International Center for Strategic Alliances (ICSA)’s 2019 Digital Bank of the Year, Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited (GTBank) has introduced to the market its newest product, Virtual Card, to enable Ghanaians make secured online payments without a physical card.
The GTBank Virtual Card is an electronically generated prepaid card that enables both customers and non-customers of the bank to shop or pay across thousands of online platforms globally including amazon.com, aliexpress.com, ebay.com, bestbuy.com, jumia.com among others.
Commenting on the introduction of Virtual Card, Divisional Head for Digital Banking, Leopold Armah said “The GTBank Virtual Card allows every Ghanaian with an active mobile money wallet or GTBank account to create, fund and use their cards for online transactions and payments anytime, anywhere. The virtual cards are accepted globally for online payments and preferred by many due to its security features and the fact that they are not linked to a bank account”.
“The card can be created in a few minutes anytime, anywhere and is most preferred for shopping online, paying for subscriptions and trial payments anywhere in the world. The ease of use of the GTBank Virtual Card is unrivaled”, he further stated.
He continued that, “GTBank is widely known as a trailblazer in digital banking and electronic payment. We remain committed to providing innovative products that enrich the lives of our customers, promotes financial inclusion and empower the general public to do more in the digital banking space”.
GTBank Virtual Card users are assured of utmost security as cards are encrypted and can only be accessed by the creators or their designated assignees.
The Virtual Cards can be created by dialing *737*10#, selecting option 1 to create card, choosing the mode of funding and amount and inputting a PIN to confirm card and deposit. Once confirmed, an email with an encrypted card will be sent to the user instantly.
Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) Limited cards are seen by industry watchers as the most secured cards for ATM, POS and online transactions, with global acceptance at over 32.7 million merchant locations. The Bank was recently re-certified with an Attestation of Compliance (AoC) by global certification company, Sysnet Global Solutions, as being Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards (PCIDSS) compliant.
